DRAWCORD
Drawcord braiding, in textiles, machine, or hand method of interlacing three or more yarns or bias-cut cloth strips in such a way that they cross one another and are laid together in diagonal formation, forming a narrow strip of flat or tubular fabric. The word plaiting is generally applied when such materials as rope or straw are employed. Braids are frequently used for trimming or binding.
The flat braid may produce a decorative border effect on garments or home furnishings or may be folded over raw fabric edges as a finishing method. Soutache is a decorative braid with a herringbone pattern, sometimes used to outline designs. Braids may be sewn together to make braided rugs. Hats, handbags, and belts can also be made from various braids, including plastic and straw types.

HERRINGBONE TAPE / GROSS-GRAIN TAPE
Twill tape or twilled tape is a flat herringbone twill-woven fabric tape or ribbon of cotton, linen, polyester, or wool. It may be used in sewing and tailoring to reinforce seams, make casings, bind edges, and make sturdy ties for closing garments. Twill tape/Gross-grain tape has its application in Garments, Fashion Accessories and is also used in theatre to tie curtains, cable, and scenery to various objects, or to tie cable coils so that they do not unroll.

JACQUARD TAPE
Jacquard weaves, produced on a special loom, are characterized by complex woven-in designs, often with large design repeats or tapestry effects. Fabrics made by this method include brocade, damask, and brocatelle. Dobby weaves, requiring a special loom attachment, have small, geometric, textured, frequently repeated woven-in designs, as seen in bird’s-eye piqué. Leno weaves, also made with a special attachment, are usually lightweight and open, giving a lace-like appearance, and are made by twisting adjacent warp yarns around each other, then passing the filling yarn through the twisted warps. Marquisette, casement cloth, and mosquito netting are produced by this method.

ELASTICS
There are three basic types of elastic: braided, woven, and knitted. These refer to how the yarns are put together, and the different methods of construction give the resulting elastics different properties. Braided elastic has lengthwise, parallel ridges. Those ridges make this elastic have more “grip” but they also mean that braided elastic tends to narrow as it is stretched.
Knitted elastic is made by knitting the fibers together. Knitted elastic tends to be softer than braided or woven elastic, and it retains its width when stretched. Also referred to as non-roll elastic, woven elastic is usually the firmest of the three basic elastic types. It retains width as it is stretched, and is suitable for sew-on applications as well as use in casings.

This knitted fabric is used for complete garments and such specialized uses as sleeve bands, neckbands, sweater waistbands, and special types of trims for use with other knit or woven fabrics. Lightweight sweaters in rib knits provide a close, body-hugging fit. Rib knits tend to be more durable and provide more stretch than jersey-knitted fabrics.
